The Garden of Eden? Not So Much.

We've spent the last 2 1/2 weeks tearing apart our yard. Yard isn't quite the proper word. I dubbed it the "Ever Dead Jungle". The landscaping put in 8 years ago barely used evergreen plants. Seven months out of the year, the plants looked dead. It became a jungle because upkeep didn't happen. On the right side of our house we have an arbor with honeysuckle AND wisteria growing over the entrance to the backyard. Only my three year old could enter through the arbor gate because it was that overgrown! We cut down an 8ft rose bush (not the highest or biggest one in the yard) and found a 3ft pine tree. So after a major overhaul, we have put new bones in the yard using mainly evergreens.  There was a theme to this house when we bought it, brown on brown on brown. Inside and outside. Me, I'm not a fan of the drab. So here's a glimpse of the color we put in this Spring.  It makes me sing a hymn of praise for creating such beauty!

For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies.
For the love which from our birth;
Over and around us lies.

Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the beauty of each hour
of the day and of the night.
hill and dale, and tree and flower
sun and moon, and stars of light.

Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.

For the joy of ear and eye
For the heart and mind's delight.
For the mystic harmony,
linking sense to sound and sight.

Lord of all to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
