May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may have had a fairly difficult week. A job opportunity dropped in my lap - to proofread a novel ASAP. I took this to mean kill myself so that this job try out may just turn into a regular gig. How many opportunities are out there for stay at home, homeschooling mommas out there that doesn't involve direct sales? I'm terrible at selling goods and myself, so that's just not my thing. So from Tuesday morning 7am until 10:30 Thursday night when I sent it back to the publishing company, I proofread the 368 novel twice. Never mind that my husband didn't come home from work the entire week until 7:30. Never mind that I was in charge of homeschooling- we rarely take days off. Never mind real life still continuing. Never mind that my body proved itself tied to the new moon cycle. Who needs sleep anyway? Well, this girl does. My eyes are still aching whenever I focus them, even as I write this almost four days later. The last time my eyes hurt like this I ended up with bifocals. I was 12 and assigned a massive book with the smallest print possible to read for school. It took eight months for my eyes to heal. So if there is another project in the future, I hope it's not ASAP. If it is, my understanding of as soon as possible requires sleep and giving my eyes a rest.
I may or may not have inherited a bunch of picture frames from my gram in August. I only just decided to sit down and get pictures printed for the frames. I thought I could merely select and have them sent to me through iPhoto. My iOS is obsolete and that method proved impossible. I then had to email them to get them off my obsolete Mac. Since I was doing that, I might as well have some fun editing them on Instagram. Then I loaded those Instagram pictures up to mpix. Then I had to figure out their system and which sizes for each picture. Eight hours later and $25 later, my pictures were ordered.
I may or may not have been reading a short chapter book to the littles called Stone Fox and barely choked out the ending due to my barely controllable bawling. I won't ruin the story, but never in my life have I cried over a book so hard. It turned out to be the very week that the dog sled race was happening in Jackson, WY in real life! This was what the book was about. I thought about driving there for it but thought that was taking homeschooling to a bit of an extreme. Instead we put the street cams online through our projector and watched what we could see. Which was the teams lining up and racing off. Definitely an exciting Friday night. Ha!
I may or may not have taken my crew to B & N because I had a $5 coupon my mother sent me. It turned out they had a lot of their homeschooling materials 50%. I loaded us up with 14 items that were mostly in the $1.50-$4.00 range. I did get two reference books for $10.50 and $15. It rang up to $90 and I forgot all about my $5 coupon while making sure I used my gift card and educator's card. I suppose we will just have to go back. You won't even have to twist my arm.
I may or may not have dropped my full egg carton on my kitchen floor and then knelt down on the floor and cried about the waste.
We have a wall made out of heavy flat stones acting as a fence in our backyard. I woke up today to part of the wall toppled to the ground. Upon examination of the prints in the snow, it may or may not have all been caused by a cat.
