I truly enjoy home decor. I enjoy the creativity. The structure of design. The beauty of color. With our first home we bought it with the intention of selling it after three years. I decorated the home conservatively with color and always with the future homeowners in mind. Our intention with our second home is to stay here at least until the boys are in college. Which means I have decorated this home with us in mind. Lots of color on the walls. We have primed and painted every ceiling and wall in the house with just the laundry room left to tackle. We agreed on colors that feel nourishing since we live in a desert. Every decorating decision we make together since we both have to live with it. I do most of the leg work but it has to be what we both want. My goal is to create a relaxing ambiance with simple decor.
Accessories drive me nuts. I think they cost too much and are hard to find. I don't like to change up my decor for seasons. If I buy an object I'm going to be looking at it for the next 20 years, so Brandon and I have to both love it. Lucky for us the on trend color for decor is blue meaning we have much more choice for decor.
This house needed a lot of work. It wasn't taken care of well. We replaced all the carpet and have brought the wood floors back to life. We've been here a little over five months. Not all of the rooms are finished yet. It has taken a while to find just the right decor for the right price.
I am always curious how others have decorated their homes, so here's a glimpse of rooms that are done in mine.
Let it be noted that I don't edit my pictures more than what's available on iphoto.
The Boys' Room

Wall color: Benjamin Moore's Urban Nature
Mom's Room/Guest Room
The girly room
Wall color: Behr's Silverberry
Seriously how beautiful is this bedset? Mom bought it for me in high school. It's antique from the 19th century.

Not too shabby
Kitchenette
My curtains arrived yesterday. Sliding blinds came with the house. Five of the blinds have fallen off since August. We both agreed we'd rather have curtains than a functional shade that was falling apart. Also, I'm too lazy to iron them. They'll get rid of the packaging lines eventually.
Clock is set to 6:36. The time our wedding was to start.
View from the living room of kitchen and kitchenette. Those walls used to be orange (see below) and the ceiling tan. The color is now Benjamin Moore's Wyeth Blue.

We replaced the faucet. It is prettier and more functional. Got it at Home Depot in the clearance section and had a coupon.
New dishwasher. The one that came with the house quit working last month.
One day we would like to change the backsplash and countertops. But it's beyond our capabilities and budget right now.
Our first house had one of these trash contraptions. We really like it and got one at Lowes.
We are working on changing the door knobs to the round knob. The egg shape knobs feel funny in my hand and we just don't like the look of it. So we're slowly changing out the knobs.
1/2 Bath
It used to be dark brown -- walls and ceiling.

| New hardware for tp and doorknob |
| New faucet and changed the light fixture to round alabaster glass from square clear glass.
Wall Color: Benjamin Moore Sonata
Laundry Room
To show you what the house used to look like.

| Wall color and ceiling color in the majority of the house. If not this color then a dark brown. The half bath was dark brown walls and ceiling. |
