There's Something In Wet Socks

My littlest little fights viruses off by getting very high fevers. This time I couldn't get his fever to come down below 102 after two doses of ibuprofen, one dose of tylenol, a cold bath and continuous cold wash cloth placed all over his little body. By 4:15 this morning with still no sleep for me, I thought well, it's time to give the cold sock treatment a try. He was complaining about how much his toes hurt because of how hot and swollen they were. So at any rate the least it would do was make his toes a little more comfortable. I put the wet socks on him and was met by a smile that the cold socks felt good and literally ten minutes later his high fever was broken. Shocked and amazed, I spent the next half hour watching him and trying to go to sleep. He was comfortable and asleep within minutes of the wet sock treatment. There's something to this wet socks thing. It will be my go to treatment in the future. Not last resort.

Here's how you do it: 

Drench cotton socks in cold water and put them on your feet. Cover the wet socks with a pair of wool socks. It will pull the temperature down through your feet and cool your body down. Easy peasy and effective. And the only time wet socks won't feel like torture.
