I may or may not have thought it was Father's Day this weekend only because my cell phone calendar had an appointment that said that it was. The reminder alarm went off at noon and I may or may not have looked over to my husband and said, "oops! Happy Father's Day!" It may or may not be true that my 6 year old may be behind my calendar appointment. I may or may not be thankful that this sweet pea thinks holidays and "events" as he calls them are very important and must not be forgotten, so he has programmed them into my phone. Otherwise, they would go unnoticed in this household.
I may or may not have googled the actual date for Father's Day moments before calling my father to ensure that today was really in fact The Date. Google saved me from having another entry in this category for May or May Not Monday.
I may or may not have turned into that mom who make the projects for her kid so it can be presentable and not grate on my nerves while the process of creativity is happening. Crafts don't go over very well here with too many demands and destruction of craft supplies instead of using them for beauty. A beautiful popsicle stick picture frame was the product of my crafting prowess. Believe me, my prowess is not much to write home about.
I may or may not have come home with a three foot high stack of books that I got at our annual community yard sale. All for $12. They may or may not be sitting on my kitchen counter because I'm not quite sure where to store this giant stack of books. Hello, my name is Kate. And I have a love of books that I have passed on through the genes to my kids! Even my hubby was excited about the quality and variety of the books this time.
I may or may not have failed to keep my kitchen clean since summer weather arrived. I'd just rather be outside where I don't and can't see my kitchen. And I'm too tired to do much about it other than do the dishes so we can survive another day.
I may or may not have covered up a stack of mail unintentionally at the beginning of May. Apparently our replacement credit cards (bank mandated replacement) and a water bill were trapped under there for the good part of 5 weeks. The good news, our water didn't turn off. A downfall of the summer weather and not keeping up with organization in my kitchen....
I may or may not have realized what a big deal kindergarten graduation was around here and not had my husband block out his work calendar to be there for it. Guess we will screw up our second sweet peas' life a little less on this count. We will be prepared for the next sweet pea's kindergarten graduation and watch him act too cool for school too.
I may or may not be feeling the need to continue doing school at home during the summer but feel a bit overwhelmed by getting organized and trying to figure out when the best time would be for learning in our day. The pull of the pool and playing in the yard is winning so far. I'm really only looking for a 1/2 hour geared towards it and more if they want. How can 1/2 an hour be so hard to commit to?
I may or may not have watched for the first time in my life The Man from Snowy River and thought McCleod's Daughters stole much of their plot and story line from this movie! Maybe they figured that people would not notice with 20 years between the two stories.
I may or may not have had 63 mostly kid shows on my netflix list on Saturday night. On Sunday night I had 103 shows on my list. Who added them? My 6 year old technology whiz. What are they? Cool stuff like Barney and Thomas and Leap Frog. Monday morning he is in for a rude surprise for all that work. Our month free trial ended Sunday night.
I may or may not have been reading a book for my book club out in my adirondack chair enjoying the sunset illuminating the leaves of our ash tree and wondering if this would be a memory of mine forever. Of the sweet beauty of summer. I hope it will.
