May or May Not Monday

May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...

I may or may not have decided that the button down shirt I found between the washer and dryer was going to be the shirt my littlest little would wear to church that morning. Never mind that the Destroyer had ripped all the buttons off last summer, I would sew them on during the rush to get ready. Never mind that I didn't have white thread and picked a bright blue. Never mind that we were ten minutes late and I forgot to brush the littles hair. Never mind that I did all that sewing, in my determination I didn't look at the size and my husband dressed him. It was a 3T. He is 5. It was just a smidge too short. I didn't notice until we got home because he forgot his shoes and was carried all through church. The shirt is soft and paper thin and beautiful colors. He will most likely be wearing it next week.

We called in professionals to bait our mouse invasion from this winter. While out front paying, I noticed a flood going down the sidewalk originating from our yard. Quickly the problem pipe was dug out. It was a sprinkler pipe with an elbow leading to nowhere. A short trip to the store to get a cap solved the immediate problem. But we may or may not be left scratching our heads to the purpose of the elbow to no where. Every zone and sprinkler works as it should with the elbow capped.

Speaking of mouse traps, I may or may not have heard a bunch of new noise under my kitchen sink where a trap was placed that day. It was a but disconcerting to hear just sitting there on my couch knowing there were critters scurrying mere feet away and made me wonder how we missed hearing the buggers in the first place. I haven't heard it since so I'm hoping calling in reinforcements and shelling out a hefty chunk of change solves the problem quickly.

That bull snake I saved weeks ago has been sunning itself on our rock wall all week. It's been interesting to watch it but frustrating because it's only a few feet from the play yard. And the need for constant alertness is wearing right down. Two days ago our favorite cat CJ showed back up and the snake has not been on the wall! May CJ never leave us again.

I may or may not be refusing to turn on the AC. With my littlest's severe allergies we can't open windows to cool down the house. Ice packs are being distributed for those who just can't get comfortable at 85* upstairs. My husband keeps complaining and I finally said, "You would have died living in Africa."

I may or may not have had a bad morning for cooking this week. I put far too much baking soda in my muffins. We're talking tablespoons versus teaspoons. Batch for the week: ruined. Also on that mornings baking list: chicken. Opened the package and it was spoiled and turning blue. We were able to get our money back. Foregoing overnight soaking my black beans, I was doing the quick method and confused the boil time and the rest time. 45 minutes into the boiling for an hour time I realized my mistake. It calls for two minutes of boiling and an hour of rest. Those actually turned out fine.

I may or may not have challenged my little to reading 25 library books by this Friday and I would take him out for ice cream. These are not your average book. They are all nonfiction in the realms of science, math and history. The main reason I challenged him yesterday was because they've been sitting on my living room floor for a month and I had to renew them. He decided to accept the challenge and knocked out 11 of them in a few hours.
