May or May Not Monday

May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...

I may or may not have allowed my little to stay one extra day away from school today on account that he is "sick". You see he negotiated going the rest of the week but needed today off. I decided to acquiesce the request because I got a whopping three hours of sleep last night due to being unable to regulate my body temperature and decided to sleep in. Single parenting is the worst at night during the winter. After chatting with my little about what he was avoiding at school, it finally came out. Music. The awful music program practice is just too much and long. So there you have he is sick. Sick of the music Pirate holiday program. Enter heart swelling pride that he is from my stock! You see he doesn't hate music, but has very refined taste. Our favorite is opera in the car, mostly Rigoletto. I can absolutely understand how there is no tolerance about holiday pirate songs.

I may or may not have dyed an entire load of laundry blue. Not changed the color to a lovely tint. No nothing so pleasant as that. Streaks of unequal proportions across non white clothing. The culprit: A pair of littles skinny pants that have been washed multiple, multiple times. You'd think I could put expert at laundering after my years of experience on my resume, apparently not. It's also the frustrating time of year when my clothes will not line dry inside because it's too cold and we can't afford to base heat our house above 65 upstairs where the thermostat resides. I'm thankful for a gas fireplace we huddle around.

I may or may not have decided we needed to go to the mall on Sunday to return the three pairs of jeans that didn't fit me that I ordered a month ago. Cabin fever has set in our household. The mall seeming a good idea proves my state of mind. It was only moderately busy! Turns out our 40 minute drive to get there was in vain because I forgot to bring the proper credit card. Instead we came away with not returning the jeans and buying three packs of ankle socks for my littles and I to share. That's right we are a very sharing family. Last week a hat was purchased for the littles and I to share.

Our garage door spring shattered this week. We were able to get it fixed for a fair price and our garage may or may not still be festively decorated. Mostly may. I suppose it should be assumed that it is still ready to party until further notification.

I may or may not have decreed that we must have plans for this week in the future. Having an entire week off of school and being shut in from the cold and only having two inches of snow stick made for extreme cabin fever.

I may or may not have set up our tree and walked out of the room and left the decorating all to the littles. They loved the responsibility and have had hours of delight from their creation. Lest you think my tree looks amazing, I am here to assure you it looks ridiculous. Obviously, nothing is above their reach because I wasn't going to offer them a ladder. I thought for sure I would redecorate immediately, but their joy and my not caring has kept the tree in a state of embarrassment. Last year I spent hours getting it prefect so I my brain wouldn't scream of something being out of place and barred anyone from helping me. This year? I'm having nothing to do with it and refuse to look at it passing by. I'm sure it will get the better of me and need to be perfected before Christmas. And if not, forward growth for me???
