May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not have been having a hard time waking up in the morning due to lack of light. Our bedroom windows face west and I had our bed placed vertically in front of the windows. After four years, I decided to rearrange. I'm not a big rearranger with home decor. At the same time, I've never lived in one house this long, 4 years, in my life. Two other times in my life, I've lived in a house for three years. One of those times was from age 5-8, so I'm not sure that can be included in my home decor habits. Now my bed is running parallel to the windows and day one seemed to do the trick. Though my room feels not like my room, and feels much bigger with this arrangement.
I may or may not have been unaware that B&N give homeschooling families a 20% off discount. My mom sent a gift card and my love of books was enough for me to overcome my intense dislike of Christmas shopping crowds. It turned out to be an educators special discount day of 25% off plus a portion of your purchase goes towards an elementary library. Winning all around! My littles produced a B&N gift card from the playroom abyss that I was completely unaware of - thieves!! And lo and behold, it had $48 on it! Are you kidding me rascals!? My avid reader has really taken to their Classic Starts books. They are buy 2, get one free. He highly recommends them!
I may or may not have taken away the littles 5,000+ collection of Legos, trio, trains, hot wheels, Kinectx, cars... anything they dump and refuse to clean up or when they do not sort in their respective places. This undertaking took four hours to resort the toys after it was "cleaned" for Grand Dad's visit. One refused to clean and just read for hours and the other felt forced to make a poor decision to put things anywhere there was space. They still have a respectable amount of toys left, we will see how long it takes for attitudes to change to be responsible for the toys.
I may or may not have had the conversation with all three of my boys about the difference between shoppers and finders. Shoppers shop for the enjoyment of it and allow the items to find them. Finders shop only out of necessity and seek out the item and do not continue the mission once it's found. The satisfaction comes when the object of your desire is found. Are you a shopper or a finder? As you well have guessed by my refusal to leave my community unless necessary, I'm a finder.
I may or may not have a pretty mellow week in regards to things going awry. Mostly it's been a week with attitudes not wanting to be respectful and work hard. I blame this on our inability to be as active as we need. We miss the hours of swimming and running and playing in the yard. We are active, just not enough. It's too chilly. It's 15* right now. Hello, winter.
