May or May Not Monday

May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...

I may or may have entirely forgotten that TODAY is Monday not tomorrow since my husband is home! So here I start at 8pm pecking this out frantically trying to remember the last week.

I may or may not have given up on Scouts this year due to not being able to be consistent.

I may or may not have gotten another proofreading gig with the same local company! "They liked me, they really liked me." I'm pretty pschyed to be able to juggle this gig with homeschooling my kids.

I may or may not have sent my husband to testify on our behalf at a county meeting against a land deal that displaces two organic farms and thousands of wildlife on Wednesday night. He got home at 10:30 and said okay I've got to go pack.
Me: For what?
My Darling Husband: Memphis. I have to leave at 5am.
Me: You mean that trip you mentioned might happen last week is happening?
My Darling Husband: Yes, I'll be back at 1:30am Saturday morning.
Me dejectedly: Oh. Your kids are going to be pissed they don't get to say goodbye!

One darling little may or may not have gotten up at 5am to say goodbye to my darling husband. He didn't bother going back to sleep. You know we had a terrific day with attitude and a nap was required. Naps haven't been in style for the non adults in this family for four years.

We may or may not have survived the trip that I didn't prepare our schedule for just fine after the nap was taken. Even with all the yucky rain keeping us inside.

I may or may not have finally found early readers with easy words, great pictures, and fun stories. Early readers kill me and my little reader. They are so dull. Let me know if you want my list.

I may or may not check out so many books weekly at the library I was printed off my own sign for my hold requests! I am single handedly supporting the library through volume of checkouts.

I may or may not have finally put my mountain of laundry away while my darling husband was in Memphis. I usually have a much cleaner house when he's gone because my evenings are free and quiet.

I may or may not follow the military cabinet appointments just to see if I know them. You'd be surprised at how often I've at least heard of them. This week I've personally known both! H.R. McMaster was my CCD teacher in 9th grade. That's Sunday school for Catholics. He was one of my favorite teachers ever. Super nice guy who treated us kindly. The Kellogg's were neighbors at our last assignment at Ft. Bragg. Also super nice folks! The military is a super small circle. I have military kids I grew up with currently in the military connecting now from different assignment stations. Lots of keeping it in the family. Which keeps it a small world.

I may or may not have discovered that some coloring markers contain latex. Super lame that my eyes run and nose runs while coloring with my littles. You know it's not going to stop me though.

I may or may not purchase chapter books on audible so I don't have to read them aloud. I try to get great deals on them and there are lots of other homeschool moms passionate about books that post the deals. Recently we were able to get The Wizard of Oz narrated by Ann Hathaway for a song. It's so good guys! I'd only seen the movie - the book is better as always. I found an illustrated copy at B&N for 50% off. I'm slowly building my children's lit library with the dream of reading them to my grandchildren. My legacy shall be impeccable taste in books.

I may or may not have just discovered the most amazing oil. Castor oil. It is saving my family's skin this winter. It's so thick and good for your hair (so long as you don't put a 1/4 cup on it like I did) and skin. It gets such a bad rap though with its internal uses. So just skip that and it's a dream oil.

I may or may not be on outfit 15 with my olive green wool skirt since my legs outgrew my jeans. It's warmed up so I don't have to wear my thermals as tights. There's that to keep it fresh.

I may or may not have received a notice in the mail from the water company that our bill was past due and our water would be shut off the next day. Uhh what!? My darling husband takes care of this and he was on an airplane home. So after texting EMERGENCY, calling every five minutes around the time his lay over should be happening, e-mailing to find some way to get his attention, he called me. He figured out that he could pay it online and I didn't need to drive clear across town at night in the rain littles in tow to their drop off box. Crisis averted.

There may or may not be another family that has the names Brandon and Braden in it. They were on Wheel this week and it's their kids.
