May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not have not had enough storage on my phone to send or receive text messages. That's been awesome today when I realized I'd been missing messages from my husband and friends all day. Oops. Seriously, why must I waste space on preloaded apps I never use over text messages and pictures of my friends and family. The phone makers sure have their priorities in order for sure. They are not mine.
I may or may not have spent the night nursing one scraped and bloodied face of a little who ran full force into a tree. It was dark and he didn't see it. I'm just grateful he was wearing a beanie with a face cover so we weren't in the er with far worse injuries. But his poor beautiful face. Oooh. My heart aches thinking about his beautiful face. It's the worst hurts, the ones our kids experience that we cannot make better or disappear.
I may or may not have put my kids through a homeschool field trip to hike at a state park in the snow with 17 mph winds and a temperature of 15*. We were fine, we have good gear. It was beautiful though Arctic.
I may or may not have received a text message on evening from a fellow neighborhood homeschool family for the rest of our neighborhood homeschool group to come to their house to watch a deer dissection. We had driven by the dead deer an hour before wondering how it died because we saw zero damage. It turns out it was hit in the face and the deputy gave it to this family for meat. So off we went and stood in the garage in full winter gear to survive the far below freezing temps to see the anatomy of a deer and touch the heart and lungs and any other part that interested the kids. The dissection of a deer was a first for me.
I may or may not have ventured to the mall the Sunday before Christmas because I had a gift certificate to Eddie Bauer and their whole store was 50% off. The entire southern part of our sparse state has two malls. I was imagining it being a typical horrific crowded nightmare. It was anything but. Just like a normal Saturday though it was Sunday and we scored some seriously great deals making me think I should brave the mall more than twice a year. Thank you online shopping! Though I'm not sure the malls of America are thanking you.
I may or may not have been using a loaner car from the dealership because our 6 month old car tire had a bulge. They didn't have the tire and then didn't realize they had our car to put it on, so five days later... The loaner car yells at you for driving out the lines or speeding or getting too close to something. My kids loved it yelling at my husband. I also loved not having to correct his bad driving habits. I think he just ignores it when we aren't in the car 😂. I do appreciate the five days of free gas and mileage.
I may or may not have decided not to bring something homemade for our family Christmas brunch. I'm totally picking up cakes from the grocery bakery. My husband is deeply embarrassed by future actions. I'm totally excited about not worrying about making food. I just decided to bring hot chocolate too. I'm going for winning over the kiddos with desserts for brunch.
I may or may not be listening to Anne of Green Gables with my family on car trips. It's in my top ten of best books ever. I'm loving sharing it with them and their joy of the story too.
