May or May Not Monday

May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...

I may or may not have found a four leaf clover tucked into my tulips. I pulled it out thinking it was just a weed until I realized my Irish luck just blessed my life. I just looked it up, there's a one in ten thousand chance of finding one. I gave it to my little to wear since he was already wearing his shamrock green lucky charm hat. I'm pretty sure the clover got lost. Does that mean my luck has run its course?

I may or may not have expected not to be able to move after all the yard projects I tackled this weekend. Painting the fence, staining the five giant planter barrels my little scored us for free in 35 mph wind, which helped a ton with the fumes but wiped me out enduring it for four hours; digging a tree well, digging holes in clay and planting eight plants; and cooking, cleaning, laundry got done too.

I may or may not have allowed the littles to help stain the fence but told them they had to put on painting clothes. I gave very specific instructions. Both of them showed up in their Easter suit pants all smiles and ready to go. It took thirty minutes to get them dressed for a few minutes of work before they decided it was too messy and not much fun.

Spring Break stinks for us because the library stops its programs for the week. It's a lousy decision because it is a great outlet for kids to utilize who wouldn't have the opportunity while school is in session. And since the persons in charge don't share the same outlook as I, yearly I say we need to plan the be out of town for the school breaks. Inevitably, I may or may not pay little to no attention to the school breaks and thus, miss out on scheduling such vacation events.

I may or may not have discovered that my calendar on my phone erased itself entirely. Everything for the future and last two plus years is gone. Yes, Apple, it's so much more important for me to have useless apps like Wallet, Health, Watch, News, Stocks... than my calendar, photos, and text messages.

I promised my littles a movie last night. Netflix had An American Tale. My littles asked if I liked it as a kid. No, I hated it. I saw it while my Dad was on the front lines of war and the separation of the kid from his family reminded me of the fear and the hurt I had with my Dad gone with only letters to communicate. Zero phone calls. Letters that were read before we received them to redact sensitive information. And to add insult to injury, the radio constantly played "Somewhere Out There". My littles loved the movie. I'm very glad for that. I may or may not have only choked up when the song came on and was able to calm myself down without tears 26 years later.

My house may or may not have allowed a pack of twenty carpet beetles to enter my front door, climb the walls, and go up my carpeted stairs. I say twenty cause that's how many we found, though I'm sure they are everywhere hiding and searching for carpet and clothes to eat. Those buggers are so small it's almost impossible to see them in the carpet, they are toast on the walls.

In the history of recording weather in our high desert town there have been ten rain storms that have set records. One of those storms happened this week. The winds were 35-50 mph hour and decided to send the rain through our living room windows in rivers of water. The window company has yet to return our calls and send a technician to give us an estimate on the damage. I may or may not be referring to this year as the year weather broke our house.

In the land of sagebrush and no trees, trees are very expensive to buy for your yard. We found a magnolia tree with ten inch petals on the pink flowers that can tolerate full hot desert sun and clay soil so long as we add a French drain to the tree hole. We all agreed on the tree which is also bordering a miracle. This particular nursery is running a deal on giving you $30 store credit for every yew plant removed from your yard. The elk and deer die from this plant and it happened too much after this harsh winter. It's a bummer because it's just about the only evergreen that survives the soil here. So we have a $60 credit cause we don't need to be killing elk and deer and we paid less for each plant. Plus the nursery sent out a rainy day 25% off your purchase coupon this week. We received the coupon on the top ten rainiest day ever, but after the nursery closed. We've been on pins and needles waiting on the rain for the first time ever in our lives. The coupon expires at the end of the month. It should rain by then right? Hopefully the five trees haven't all been snapped up by the time it does rain. Until then, we may or may not be on alert with instructions to drop everything the moment rain hits to get this tree.

My darling husband and littles decided to enter a contest and true to form waited until the last minute. PBS writing contest entries supposed to be handled by the darling husband of course started to be forced on me until I threw a massive fit *ahem* lecture and the darling husband rallied and figured out how to get it done. Even leaving work on Friday to take the boys to the library to photocopy their stories with illustrations and hand deliver them at the PBS station.  I may or may not have been completely unwilling to take this project on and I still have yet to grasp why.
