May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not have demanded to know where my flowers were yesterday for National Military Brat Day. We don't exchange gifts for any day. Birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's/Father's Day, Valentine's, Christmas - nope, no gifts or acknowledgement. Last year April 30th was designated for Brats; which is a fine thing because we are very overlooked in our existence. BRAT started as British Regiment Attached Traveler and morphed to mean all military kids. But the meaning of attached traveler fits well. So I definitely startled him with my insistence that I be acknowledged and celebrated for being so lucky to have been born into the role of Brat. He solemnly looked at me and said, " Is this a thing we're doing now?" "Nope, it's not. I'm absolutely teasing you. Relax." We will see how next April 30th goes down. There should be flowers and fanfare.
I may or may not have taken Cisco the Gardener's advice he gave about wisteria at the talk we attended last April. He said try to kill it, but don't really kill it, and then it will actually bloom. You have to stress the heck out of the plant and that's what I did. Until this week, when it woke up, I thought I'd actually killed it. And wouldn't you know it, there are five blooms - the first we've had in the four and a half years we've lived here. Now the only reason I know we have that many blooms is my little climbed the twelve foot pergola and traipsed around on the top while I went to the bathroom. A climber must climb. Anyone else have a climber?
I needed to super soak laundry is week and I may or may have just discovered that the washer I've owned for three years doesn't have a soaking cycle for longer than thirty minutes. So at 1am after being very frustrated for not getting the laundry clean after seven washes, I found my answer. Run the normal cycle so the washer fills up and then unplug the machine because it has an automatic drain after ten minutes. And of course I couldn't reach the plug and so kindly woke my husband up at 1am to unplug the washer for me. He is an easy sleeper and deep sleeper, so I in no way feel a bit bad about waking him. He's a fall asleep in thirty seconds or less sleeper, anywhere, anytime. He also then left town for three days. That load of laundry had the soak of its life.
I may or may not have had to interrupt a conversation identifying a bird call as an owl. It was the middle of the day. It's pigeons folks, not owls. Just doing my bird calling identification duty.
I may or may not be a bit in denial that our neighborhood pools are opening in a couple of weeks. It's easy because it is still winter out. Normally, the warmth has long returned by now, but winter has settled in deep for six and some change months now. The thought of needing to fit in my swim suits in a couple of weeks has put a fear in me to try to whip myself out of winter mode and into summer mode. Wish me luck because cozy winter mode seems much better right now.
Three out of four of us may or may not be ticked off that a work trip made our weekend one day instead of two. Four out of four of us are hopeful a less demanding job is on the horizon.
I hate the owl/pigeon thing! Super pet peeve! Except I just keep my mouth shut cuz inside I say swear words sometimes at the people and it makes me feel superior! Lol!
