May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not have a ten foot impalation post standing in my yard that was once the form of an Aspen tree. It's an Aspen tree that is dying from a fungus that we didn't realize was there until it was too late to save the tree with chemicals. We had a windstorm come through and it ripped eight feet off the top of the tree. It landed on one of the giant sunflowers and took three flower stems off that my little will not forgive the inconsiderate tree.
I may or may not be strangely looking forward to the cool down of Fall. I realized why when the weather station announced we had measured 44 days in a row of over 90. Now that doesn't seem to ring fair because what they mean is it's been 97-105 most of those 44 days. That's just hot. Only one time in 1875 was there a longer running hot streak, by six days. So it's safe to say it doesn't get hotter here than it did this summer.
I may or may not have spent part of my morning reading a hysteria piece on the danger of going blind even with the glasses for viewing the eclipse and counter arguments for saying this expert doesn't know what he's talking about. So how about you get the safe approved glasses and if you think your kids aren't going to use them properly, build a pinhole device or don't have them participate.
I may or may not have read an article that magnesium baths should be forty minutes long minimum to receive the full benefits not the twenty it says on the bag. So I settled in after the kids went to bed with a book I'd barely started. I got sucked into the story and finished the book and figured it was about 2am. Nope, it was 4am. Sometimes the cost of peace and quiet is too high.
I may or may not have realized that I'm a project person always needing to create. I thought I was a let's just fix this person and I can relax. But no, I have a need to create not fix. So for four years I created my lawn garden. It's pretty much created so now I'm focusing on my garage and bathrooms and kitchen. The bathrooms and kitchen are not my favorite in design and function and when we moved in I told my darling husband I could live with it for five years but then we'd need to fix it. I don't think he believed me but wouldn't you know it, subconsciencely my mind was on the clock cause five years is up and now I need to fix it. Or I'm just really precise at knowing my limits. So this week I took the crystal knobs off the dresser in my bedroom and moved them to the kitchen to experiment whether I liked the change. I was five short and thankfully Lowes still carried them but for a dollar and a half more five years later. So for now I'm satisfied with the minor change but I've got plans for the rest when time and materials manifest. This week I purchased two storage benches from a moving sale for five dollars each that will be great for snow gear in the garage. Time to make room for them. I've decided a portion of my garage needs to function and act like a mud room because otherwise the mud and sand end up in my house. I suppose we will need to move when I run out of projects.
