May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not be amused that we have announcers from the UK for the Olympics. Clearly, we have a love for British and Aussie accents. Now if only we could be so equal in coverage of all the athletes competing. I miss the old days when the Olympics were just on NBC the entire time and not highlights in a time spot.
My house may or may not be worse for wear between having colds and the Olympic Games taking up my down time. Chores just weren’t getting done by either of us. We did catch up a bit this weekend but the laundry is a bit of a scary situation with folded piles taking over my entire bedroom floor and chair.
I may or may not have started to get nervous about pipes freezing with continuously waking up to our upstairs at 50-55. I had to turn my base heat back on. While it’s nuch more pleasant in temperature, my nose and throat are stuffy and sore in the mornings from the dusty dry air being pumped directly over my pillow. I have a humidifier on full blast, so it could be worse. I guess.
I may or may not have discovered that my curling iron was left on for over 24 hours when I burned my hand putting it away. I don’t spend much time in my bathroom and clearly not much time on my appearance to have not been back in by my sink in that long of time to not notice that extreme fire hazard. We’ve all seen that episode of Friends to know what could happen.
I may or may not have discovered that our recycling is sent to China and now they aren’t accepting paper. We can’t recycle paper. Apparently we live in a world where it is cheaper to sent our recycling on a cargo ship across the Pacific Ocean than use a domestic company. What fresh absurdity is this!? This is irony and hypocrisy at its finest. We pollute by sending across the world and now we can’t send paper. This hurts my mind.
I may or may not be amused that my darling husband and littles forgot my birthday. Eventually a calendar reminder alerted my darling husband. Good thing I’m breezy about things like this. My parents knocked it out of the park with their words, gifts, and kindness. So now I’m 36 and it doesn’t feel a bit different than the day before or week before or years before.
I may or may not be amazed that in two days my little with new braces’ teeth look straight and good to go. It will be a six ish month thing. But dang if I’m not amazed at the speed.
I may or may not be expecting a bloody mouth at every accident and scream I hear now. I hear a lot between bikes and ice skating.
I may or may not be demanding a new test from 23 and me. My little had a test get rerun because of funny results and so it took 16 weeks instead of 8(max) to get the results. The results claim that through this mother he received 2% Middle Eastern. That’s all well and good except I have zero of that dna and neither do my parents or aunt or uncle. I’m 99.6% Northern European. 0.4% West African. No room for anything else. And since they claim it’s from the mother’s side there’s no room for them to claim paternity issues - let me assure you there’s zero room to question that either. So I’m a gonna need a new test please.
My littles were playing Apples to Apples and the rents were the deciders. Immediately after discussing which was more expensive: a funeral or motorcycle, an ad for local cremation services popped up on my Facebook newsfeed. I may or may not have been ticked that somehow my microphone was enabled for listening. When my phone was rebooted I thought I had disabled all the invasive privacy issues but I’d overlooked this one. Turn yours off too if you don’t like being spied on.
I may or may not have been angry that our Olympic coverage was interrupted for the school shooting and that my children were subjected to watching the kids flee and the subject be arrested. We don’t watch tv except PBS and aren’t used to interrupted shows by commercials or breaking news. A ticker tape announcement would have been reasonable and for those who wanted pictures and more coverage could switch to the three other stations carrying it. I really didn’t need my littles exposed to that horror. We were watching a happy event that happens every four years. This is merely meant as a frustration of news stations wanting rates. This was a tragedy and serious measures need to be taken to keep schools safe.
