May or May Not Monday

May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...

I may or may not have this great ability to get sick just by being in the presence of a sick person. Even though we squirted hands, spray essential oil hand sanitizer, and immediately once home washed hands, I got sick. Then gave it to my little who gave it to his brother. Five days later I am still fighting a fever. My darling husband is the last hold out. Though I’m not exactly sure how he’s feeling because I have not seen him today or asked. I still want to think there’s someone to take care of things.

I may or may not let my children watch movies and Netflix for the duration of sickness because no one should have to engage their brain with anything more than that if they are couch bound. It’s a good thing I don’t let them do this often because we’d run out of free movie options to keep them entertained.

I may or may not have rented Hocus Pocus to bring in Autumn. My darling husband and I laughed through it but it took a few minutes of chatting to show how this movie is more of a comedy than thriller with my littles. Riding a vacuum and mop for a broom. A zombie who just wants his mouth unstitched so he can talk. Then to tone it down we started Sleepless in Seattle (PG). Words like “orgasm, scratching backs during sex” ended the movie pretty quickly. I told my darling husband that would be a movie to watch through Vid Angel. Does that exist anymore since the lawsuit?

I may or may not have gone to a nursery to buy pansies for the historical farmhouse after Walmart and B&D not having any that had its machines down. The total was $6.36 and for some unknown reason I had exact cash with me. It was a cause of celebration by three adults who didn’t have to endure the archaic method of writing down the transaction in triplicate carbon paper. We were all surprised because how many of us carry cash around these days? And bonus, my kids got to see real life use for carbon paper. That it’s not just used for spy codes like their science experiment showed them.

I may or may not have gone to be at seven twice this week and not gotten out of bed til eleven the next day. Being sick is seriously slowing me down.

We read a folktale  this week about a competition for most powerful between the sun and north wind. It was decided that the most powerful would be able to make a grown man take off his coat. Who made this decision I don’t know but it was clearly in favor of the sun. But for reasons unknown the north wind agreed to the terms, lost, and has been pissed off ever since. It was a timely read because the winds have picked up from the northwest and are bringing a chill to the air. I may or may not be reminding my children that it’s still pissed off at the sun. Which makes us smile and not feel its chill so much.
