May or May-Not Monday: Where you can divulge the secrets of life's mishaps without feeling like a failure. So go on... own up. I may have...
I may or may not have dropped my cell phone in cow poop on our hike yesterday. It was everywhere on the hike and really the chances of it not hitting poop was not in my favor. I picked it up and asked my darling husband to stop so I could get the wipes. Why? Smiling I answered I dropped my phone in cow poop. The others in the group laughed at the comedy of the moment with me and my darling husband looked at me like how did I marry that?!
We may or may not have lost our thoughts that cows are docile, happy grass eating creatures when we came upon not one but two huge range cows that decided to stand off with our group. Let’s just say one kid was oblivious and the other froze in fear isolating him for the massive beast to focus on. We have decidedly ruled out rodeo clown for his future.
These range cattle acted like they’d never seen humans before. And maybe they hadn’t seen a group of six before. They all stared us down which was just fine when they were fenced in. These cows need to be instinctively tough and mean for survival on the open range. We saw a baby cow carcass along the way. A very fresh death. I’m thankful my kids are leading just enough of a country life to know what nature really is - not cuddly and sweet and harmonious.
I may or may not be proud to say that I did not become hysterical upon my child facing off with a menacing cow.
I may or may not have hurried hurried my family like a drill sergeant to get to the auditorium downtown through Friday night traffic so we wouldn’t miss getting our seats for the magic show. We showed up to enter the auditorium thirty minutes before the show started to find we were too early. A first for us but it was great for entering a taking a selfie with an empty house between us and the stage being the first to enter.
I may or may not have learned that as late as the 1960s they used to used abandoned cars to stop erosion in the foothills and all along the river through town. We’ve come across rusted out cars on our hikes around our community and just thought they were shamelessly dumped there. Nope they were geniuses instead. Eye sore, sure. But it kept and keeps our foothills from running away. They’ve long since cleared out all the cars from the river banks, thank goodness!
We had our first measurable rainfall in four months yesterday early morning. .01” fell. Semi arid desert🌵 Does it even count?
